Restless legs?

I posted this on the 1st trimester board too, but -

I have had RLS for a while, but it's usually not bad at all - gets worse when I have a glass of wine or something. But ever since BFP it has been everyday (obviously without the wine!).....and not just at night - at work, at night, in the morning. It is SO annoying. I don't know what to do about it...

Re: Restless legs?

  • I have that. And I dont know if there is much to be done while pregnant.

  • I get that, too, but mainly at night when I am tired. That's my signal to go to sleep.

  • I'm so glad you posted this. I don't have a history of RLS, but last night it started and still today I cannot sit still, lay down, get comfortable enough to fall alseep. It's making me bonkers!

If you find a solution, please let me know. Thanks!

  • I have RLS too. Before my BFP it would only bother me if I deprived myself of sleep. Ever since BFP its every single night! I've tried a lot of things like laying on my back running in motion in my bed, dunking my legs into a freezing cold bath (for some reason if im hot its worse). A woman once told me to put a bar of soap under my bed sheet before bed and its suppose to help. I tried it because im desperate sometimes It worked..i think..or its just my mind playing tricks. Either way...drink lots of water to stay hydrated I think that has a lot to do with it too. Good luck!

  • I had RLS so bad I was medicated for it at one point.  I weaned myself off the meds last fall.  I have found red wine and general stress made it worse, and I definitely see signs of it returning now that I am KU.  You should actually move around before you go to bed, nothing crazy, but use that time to pick up the house or something like that.  I have also read it can be exacerbated by low iron, so keep an eye on your iron intake.  I have heard the bar of soap thing too, and whether it's a mind trick or not who cares, give it a shot!
  • Mine has definitely gotten worse since BFP.  I've always noticed that it was worse when I was tired.  Given the complete and total exhaustion I've been expieriencing, I guess that's why.
  • I"ve had it since middle school.  My dad also has it.  I felt completely crazy until the commercials came out for the medication and I had the "I'm not totally nuts" moment.  It hasn't gotten much worse since my bfp, but its probably because its pretty bad anyway.  I also get the same problems in my back and every now and again my arms.  I'm a super high strung person anyway!
