I AM naming my daugther Khari Rhyss. How would you pronounce Khari at first glance?

Also the spelling on Rhyss is actually how I found it in the baby name book. I was originally going to go with Rhys. (Reece)

Kari: Kari McKeen. It's like Carrie, only with a K instead of a C, and an "ah" instead of an "a", only one R, and an I instead of an I-E.

Hmm no one has ever said Carrie before, but that's the one name I thought people would think of first. Although that's an awful way to spell Carrie... As far as Rice.. really? I wouldn'tve thought of that.

Car-ee is how it is pronounced.And like I said Rhyss is how it is spelled in all the baby name books!

I didn't even know that was the baby sitter's name until my BFF mentioned it. I had to go watch the movie to see if she said it the same. She does say it Car-ee but it's spelled Kari. I honestly have never heard the name Khari before, but when I google it I come up with like 4 boys and 2 girls with the name haha.

I would say Care-ee Rhyss. Only because I have a friend Kari who pronounces it Care-ee and Rhys is the Gaelic spelling for Rhys. Rhyss is masculine to me. I'm not a fan of your spelling choices at all.

Well I'm sure people will pronounce it how I tell them to, but Rhyss is the female version of Rhys/Reece according to my book and it is actually a family name. I dont' know how else you would spell Khari as far as spelling 'choices' go this is the only way I'd seen it spelled until my friend mentioned the incredibles. And it is an African originated name and that is how it is spelled.

I would say car-ee reese. I have a friend with a baby named Rhyse so I already learned how that is supposed to be pronounced. Based on your spelling of Khari I would emphasize the "car" as the first syllable.

I'd say it Carrie Riss.

For me, Rhys is Reese, and it's a boy's name. My cousin named one of her sons that.

But the double S at the end makes me want to give it a short I sound, and it just makes it look like a bastardized Welsh name.

I don't know. I googled Rhyss and the first thing that came up was "Did you mean Rhys?" People are just going to think you misspelled your own child's name.

I see CAR-ee Riss. Perhaps I'm just not familiar with either name. That was the first time that I've seen Rhyss or Rhys. Both seem like they have unnecessary H's.
