High-Risk Pregnancy

Hello Mr. Insulin, I've been expecting you

Saw the diabetes RN today.  She reviewed my numbers and thought I should have been started on insulin last Friday when I saw the crackhead doctor who knew nothing about me and didn't bother to find out.  So, she went and talked to one of the MDs I have seen more frequently and voila!  I am starting 2 injections a day of regular and NPH.  I go back Friday to review my numbers with these changes and tweak my dosages.  Not unexpected, and hopefully this will give me tighter control.

  • I am in your club.  My poor tummy has little bruises all over it.  =(  I am guessing once i send this weeks numbers in on friday I may be up to 4 shots a day.  ugh.  I hope it works well for you.

  • Welcome to our not fun club.  I am on NPH just at night but it looks like now it's going to be dinner insulin as well.  Anyone have to do this?  How does it work?
  • Welcome to our happy little club... I just started Humulin at bed time and morning. I was using both last pregnancy so I suspect I will soon be doing both again. My fasting numbers have come done, but I still have some high numbers with dinner. Ugh. GL!
  • Good to know the bruising is normal.  I've been on Levemir at night and Novolog at meal times for a week.  I have my follow up appointment this afternoon.  I was going to ask them about the bruising.  Has anyone tried injecting into their leg?  I haven't yet, only my belly.
