I keep seeing that other cities on the national boards have maternity consignment but I'm having trouble finding anything in the area. Does anyone know if we have any?
Also, I'm too late for the Weecycles but I really want to buy a used crib/furniture and I'm not sure if there are good weekly yard sales or anything that I could check out. I never been much of a second hand shopper so I'm completely new to all this. I've been looking on craigslist for ideas but DH is really grossed out by used kids things so I think seeing it in person may help.
Thanks!
Re: Maternity consignment shops?
I'm not sure where you're located, but Greenberries in Columbia (King's Contrivance village center) has maternity clothes.
My friend got a really nice crib and dresser from Once Upon a Child in Crofton. I go in there quite a bit just because they are constantly getting new stuff in. You need to get your DH over his thing with used items.....we have bought so much stuff secondhand and saved a ton of $$. There is absolutely no need to buy anything new, besides carseats, IMO.
I got a bunch of maternity clothes off of ebay. People will often sell them in lots so I got some awesome deals. Everything else I bought off the clearance racks at Kohls and Target, and was loaned to me by friends and family.
Once Upon A Child is a great suggestion for used cribs and dressers. We got ours from a friend fro Brendon to use. Now Cecilia uses it and we got Brendon a cheap crib from Ikea that turns into a toddler bed.
If your husband is grossed out by used items, I might suggest looking into the Ikea cribs. They are very inexpensive but super sturdy and they get great reviews from Baby Bargains.
Not sure about consignment shops in the area, but I'd second PP's suggestion of checking out ebay for maternity clothes - I've gotten some great deals on things there. The rest of mine came from Old Navy and Gap online, as well as the Lutherville ON - they carry maternity in-store and I've gotten some awesome deals from their clearance racks. I also love Target's maternity clearance. I've never had any luck with Kohl's clearance racks, but I've heard plenty have had luck there.
As for the crib/furniture situation, I'm no help because we bought brand-new for all of it, but if your H is really set against a used crib, I know Ikea's cribs get great reviews in Baby Bargains and they're really inexpensive. We haven't bought a ton used (some clothing, a boppy, a bouncer, and a shopping cart cover are about the extent of our used shopping), but there's definitely nothing wrong with it - I'd agree that when it gets down to it, the only thing that REALLY needs to be bought new are car seats. GL with your search!

Also I have found some stuff at Country Britches which is in Hickory close to Bel Air. We got a pack n play there to keep at the grandparents house for $45.

Most Kid consignment shops have a selection of maternity clothes.
