Our backyard, xposted, long and revolves around DH and the mower

was looking like a wildlife refuge. Tall grass because it won't stop raining for more than a day, a pair of turtle doves, an army of squirrels, a nosy chipmunk, lots of bluejays, a normal size bunny and a giant Cadbury (BOCK BOCK BOCK) bunny.DH decided that it would be a good idea to mow.10 minutes later he stops, runs up to the backdoor and screams into the house "BABY BUNNY!"I grab my shoes and run out there, grabbing a head of lettuce. Poor baby bunny is terrified and hiding in the grass. DH tries to offer him lettuce as a peace offering. I stay there and watch the baby bunny as DH tries to start mowing again. While I'm watching baby bunny #1, 4 more run out of the spot that he JUST went over. I scream, wave my arms and get him to stop. 2 bunnies make it through the fence and two of them are hiding like the first bunny. We took pictures of them, looked in the hole and saw at least one more bunny and decided to go eat and come back and check on them again. We get back and bunny #1 appears gone. The bunny in the hole is still there. The 2 bunnies that escaped through the fence are right on the other side, hiding under a rock. Bunny #2 and #3 are still hiding in the grass. I give DH a guilt trip for mowing and scaring the babies. It's getting dark and there's a stray cat that wanders through our yard every once in a while so while I'm SURE there's probably a better way to do this, I find a washcloth that I forgot some time ago on the wash line and pick up and move the babies back to their hole. Can't reach #4 and #5 and check the spot where #1 was. #1 was still there, just squirmed down a bit more. We move him too. We also left lettuce spread out over the yard in hopes that they'll forgive DH for trying to mow them. I'm going with the hope that the washcloth that has been through about 3 weeks of rain doesn't smell very human anymore and that the other bunny will make the 3 we put back smell more bunnyish. Poor babies. I'll have to check on them tomorrow. *sorry, I'm trying to add a not-gigantic picture*image
