Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I've been having nightmares ever since I got discharged from the hospital...

I'm not sure why.  I think I'm still really scared.  The nightmares aren't about me being sick (DH keeps having nightmares that I'm dying of brain cancer, though.)  They're about random things -- my cats got out and we couldn't find them, I got attacked by someone who told me I lost my babies bc God hates me and wanted me to lose the pregnancies, just random awful things.

It sucks.  I wish they would stop.

  • That's insane! Are you eating strange foods before going to bed or something?  I had crazy dreams while I was pg but they stopped. Sometimes if I eat before I go to sleep though, they come back. Tongue Tied

  • if your doctor has you on any meds (or combination of meds) that could be causing the weird dreams...I'm sorry...did you get teh results of your testing back yet?  I've been thinking of you and your family and hope you are that much closer to figuring things out and getting on with your life.
  • Yuck. After going through such an awful, scary situation I'm sure having nightmares isn't helpful. All of the nightmares sound like scary things that you can't control- which seems very close to what you are experiencing IRL. I'm sure it is just your subconscious (sp?) dealing with things that your brain doesn't think your conscious mind handle at the moment.

It is so weird how the brain works, but I really think that it does things to protect us when we need it.

  • I'm sorry :(

It is probably just sress and worry. I have them ever since some traumatic things that happened with my twin pregnancy.

Could be meds, too. Hope they stop! Did they ever figure out what is wrong? I have been thionking of you.

Thank you.  Still no results... they aren't sure what to do at this point.  I'm doing a lot better though.  I feel pretty good.

  • That's scary! I'm sorry you have to deal with those nightmares on top of everything else you are going through.

    Jack's new picture is adorable!

This is what I think of.  After the several surgeries I've had they would put me on pain killers for a short amount of time while recovering and I had the worst horrible horrific nightmares while on them.

The only thing they gave me was a migraine preventative drug called nortryptiline which I've taken before with no problems.

  • I'm so sorry you're going through all of this. You've been through enough already! :(

It could be from stress.. I know this is nothing like what you've been through, but I had an extremely stressful job working w/ emotionally impaired and "troubled" junior high boys and I started having awful nightmares every night. I would wake up screaming and screaming and shaking uncontrollably and DH would have to hold me before I could calm down. It sucked. And I quit the job!

I would talk to a doctor if this continues. It may be a new reaction to the meds you've taken before, or it could be stress.. and stress is definitely hard on your body. No harm in talking about it if it continues and possibly taking something to help calm you down. Hang in there :(
