I went to the dr a few weeks ago for some ear pain. She gave me a Zpack and some allergy med. I didnt take either. 1. because I really didnt feel that sick to take the Zpack and she tends to love to prescribe that to everyone and 2. when I looked up the allergy med I did not like what it said online about it even though it was a class B. So i ended up feeling a little better on my own and decided to deal .WELL yesterday my allergies flared up sooooo bad and my ear is killing me now that I think it might possibly be more!! I have the Zpack and I think I should take it--
Anyone else have to take that this far in your pregnancy??
Im just nervous
Re: Z pack and 35 weeks
I took a z-pak in my first trimester. Your Dr would not give you meds that would pose a problem for the baby. I say take the Z-pak. If you feel better then its what you needed and if not it wont harm anything. If you still have the ear pressure I would say its allergies and then try the other stuff.
Hope you feel better!

My thinking on that is you really dont want to be sick during labor. So why torture yourself when these meds are safe for baby? If you can take it first tri, you generally can be sure they are safe in third tri. Usually they prefer you to avoid meds in 1st tri and then the safe ones are ok for 2nd and 3rd tri. The only one that is opposite of that (and even some drs still dont prescribe it) is ibuprofen. The risk associated with it is thinned blood in 3rd tri. But as a rule it is usually not recommended to take.
Take the meds, feel better, and enjoy the last weeks of being pregnant (if thats possible lol)
Take it. It's better to kick it now than be sick during labor.
Also, it's only a 5-day regimen of an antibiotic. It won't hurt anything.
