Anyone else taking vitamin B6?

So in my TTCAL journey I did a bit of reading about vitamin B6. It is supposed to help with progesterone production. (And for those of you that got lucky and didn't have to worry about this, what that basically does is make sure you don't shed your uterine lining too quickly, as the dip in progesterone during a cycle is what makes AF show up. So if TTC you want it to stay up.)

One of the "side effects" of taking B6 is that it can up your mood and your energy as it assists in serotonin production. I found this to be very true- I have not had this much energy or felt this peaceful mentally in years. (I've struggled with depression in my life.)

I just heard that it is also supposed to be good at helping to keep away morning sickness. Has anyone else's doctor mentioned this? I have a phone call out to my doc, who has actually just broken her ankle and is on bed rest, but I was wondering if anyone else's doctor mentioned it. I know some of us are a bit early to be worried about m/s, but I just wondered what anyone has heard.

I took B6 while TTC due to having shorter LP after coming off the pill and have continued to take it.  B6 is used commonly to treat morning sickness, often in combination with Unisom.  I had been taking 100 mg, which I have continued, but I take it in one dose. I believe for morning sickness the dose is 25 mg three times per day (so total 75 mg).  I think it works better for morning sickness when it's spread out throughout the day.

  • I have heard that B6 is good for morning sickness, too!  I have a big jar of it b/c I was about to start taking it before I got my BFP.  I think I might have to get it out again so I can stop feeling so nauseous all the time.  I'm going in to the doc next week so I will try to remember to ask if it's okay to take.

  • I have B6 in my multiviatmin and I have heard about it upping your mood.

  • Mrs McCain- those dosages make sense.

I am glad that others have heard of it. I am definitely going to continue with it. It's been a real miracle worker for me.

  • I took it while TTC since we have had a MC carriage before and was told it could help prevent a MC again.  I took it for a couple weeks after BFP to try to help the m/s, but it didn't do much.  I then read that taking too much of it can be harmful, so I stopped taking it, since my pre-natal has some.
  • I would love any help I could get with this m/s. One week and two days before my 8th week appt. I will hold out and survive until then. I feel like a wimp asking for help with m/s. DH says this is the last pregnancy if I don't stop complaining..where's my empathy?
