I have what seems like a never ending supply of gnats in my house. I think the plant(s) that I bought at Home Depot a few months ago must have had a bunch of eggs in the dirt and now they're all hatching. I must kill 20 of them a day and still there's more.
I know about the vinegar trick to get rid of fruit flies and tried it to see if it works on gnats. It doesn't. Any other tips/suggestions? Thanks!
Re: Getting rid of gnats?
Lurking from 3rd tri..
had this problem too..plant I got from Home depot had never ending gnats!!!
After doing tons of online research I came across these solutions.. I'm sure just one would work, but I did all of them because I just wanted the bugs gone for good!
1) Let plant dry out completely and then run tap water, all the way on hot, over the plant for 2-3 minutes. (Nope wont hurt the plant)
2) Let the plant dry out completely, then water it w/ a combo of hydrogen peroxide(reads 3% on label) and water.. should be 4 parts to 1!
3) These little guys like to lay their eggs in the top inch of soil if you put about one inch of sand, I did colored sand (:, on top of the dirt they cant crawl out after they hatch.
Like I said I opted for all of them, in the order listed above! GL, hope this helps!
