Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

missed miscarriage, started bleeding today, what can I expect?

I had the choice of having a D&C or waiting the m/c out naturally. We chose the natural route. I should have been 10 weeks and an u/s discovered that our baby stopped growing at 7W,4D. :( I've had a D&C before and am just wanting to avoid it. Not because of the actual procedure because it all is very quick and painless, I just don't want another invasive procedure and my husband works in the hospital where I would have it done.

I started lightly spotting thursday night and yesterday the spotting was more red.Overnight and today, heavy bleeding and passing large clots. Very minor cramps. It seems to be slowing up at least for now. How long can I expect this to last? And then do I call my doctor when I stop bleeding to set up a follow up appointment?

Such a beautiful day outside and all I want to do is crawl up in a ball on my couch. :(

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a natural m/c at ten weeks also. Every woman is different but here is how mine went. I bled for about three weeks. It started out similar to what a regular period would be and then the rest of the first week was really bad cramping and heavy bleeding. Lots of clots and passing tissue. I would get a series of really painful cramps right before passing the larger sections of tissue. Over time it slowed though and the then it dropped down to spotting and then was gone. Motrin was my life saver!  I hope you experience is as easy as it can be!

  • I'm so sorry.  It's the nicest week weather-wise that we've had here since last summer, and I've just been sitting on the couch most of the day...

You can go to my bio if you'd like and read my previous posts...I started a natural m/c Wednesday night and had a D&C yesterday to finish it so it was all done.

I wish you the best.  **hugs**

  • I don't have any advice for you as I am still waiting it out and hoping I have very little cramping like you seem to be having.

Hope everything is quick and painless.?

  • Sorry for your loss. I bled/spotted for about 5 days before the actual m/c part (2 weeks ago). It was pretty painful because my body actually went through labor. I had more severe cramping for a few days until I passed some remaining tissue and since have just been tender and still bleeding lightly.

Everyone is different, hopefully it'll be easier on you physically.
