Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How has the Bump changed your life?

It can something small or something very significant.

Mine is small. I first heard about dry shampoo on this board. I don't use it super often but I know it will come in handy when we go camping this summer.

Re: How has the Bump changed your life?

  • There are things about being a mom that no book or dr can tell you and the bump is a place to learn about and talk about those things.

  • It makes me procrastinate more!!

On a more positive note, it's a great resource of info!

  • It turned me into the most worried woman pregnant woman on earth. Sigh.
  • I thing it has made me a more confident mom. Knowing that there are other women out there going through the same thing I am and dealing with it in similar ways, I know my instincs were right. Its also nice to have the support of so many women you don't really know that well but we're all here to support each other through this most blessed and trying time in our lives.

Wow, that got a lil' mushy. Confused

  • For me, it has been all the information. To be honest (and it's sad), I think I would be worse without the bump.

It has made me more confident in my choices, and also opened my eyes to things I wouldn't have otherwise known about.

  • i know that experience is the best tool for motherhood, but i can honestly say that i know more "helpful hints" and more about different types of baby products than any of my non-bump friends that have babies.  i think that about 98% of the stuff we have bought for ds, that i am SUPER happy we have, are because of the bump.
  • My bank account has suffered from thebump...all the coupon codes and new products I've seen here I can't seem to stop myself from buying.

When I was pregnant thebump.com saved my sanity since I was on bedrest for so long.

  • My friends with babies always comment on how I have the coolest things for DD, or how I know all of this useful information and it is ALL stuff I have learned from The Bump.  :)

  • I don't know about life changing, but I feel that I am the best Mom I can be because of the information and insight from the ladies on this board.

I think this exactly.  When DS was teething the ladies on the bump told me about the natural teething tablets... thats how I learned about my "crack" lullaby noise machine.  This is where I first heard of Sophie... I If it wasn't for the bump I would be missing some hair (from pulling it out) and DS wouldn't have half the cool stuff that he does...

  • The bump has actually greatly affected my parenting. I am more informed than any of my mom friends. I have bought DD several things that I would not of heard of otherwise. I never would have considered making my own purees and now I love it. And it especially helped me feel normal about breastfeeding. My family does not bf and none of my friends either. My sis did it for 6 weeks and couldn't understand why I wanted to do it for 6 months (we made it 6 1/2 before my supply dropped). It was wonderful to see so many other bfing moms. I <3 the bump. :-)

I couldn't possibly agree more. I'm sure DD would have been spoon fed rice cereal by 3 months if I hadn't had a multitude intelligent women to share information with and an argument against our mothers. I doubt I would have found the resources I needed to switch from EP to EBF. You've all kept me sane for more than a year of a difficult pregnancy and feeling isolated in a new city.

Kiwi, hats off to you once again for such a positive post. If we didn't live so far away I'd hunt you down and insist we be friends IRL.

Aww, poppy. I'm sending a big hug your way. I agree that we could be great friends IRL. I guess being amigas on the interwebz is the next best thing :0).

ITA! I am so thankful for all of the support that can be found here. Smile

  • I felt alone and secluded since we live in Ct and the rest of my family is in NJ and spread throughout the U.S.... so it was a great place to come and vent, listen, and get great advice.
  • Funny you should ask actually just today I was trying to remember which pampers diapers people were having problems from ( I saw it here no where else) also there's loads of other things I've been informed on just from reading posts here.  It's also a great place to vent if you have to, and a great place to read other's vents and know that your not the only one.  and hopefully be able to help them in some small way.

  • I have made some very good friends on here that I would have never known without it.

  • I actually thought about this today! Pretty much everyone around me has pretty much the same views- on parenting, religion, politics, and the such. I mean, there are obviously a few differences, but these boards remind me that there is so much more out there. There are so many other things going on outside of my small town...and such different views on things.
