Re: Clicky - Do you volunteer?

  • I did when I was younger but lack of childcare prevents that from happening now.

  • DH and I volunteer with our local Turtle Patrol. We get to walk the beach on Saturday/Sunday mornings and look for turtle nests. Our area just got its first turtle nest so we may find some this weekend!! We take DS with us and wear him during the walk. Right now he sleeps the entire time.

I have also been the volunteer coordinator for two different animal rescues. When I got pregnant I decided to take some time off from that since I was taking a full load of graduate courses and working two jobs throughout my pregnancy (as well as volunteering with turtle patrol). I miss it and would like to go back to it but I dont know how I would do it with the baby.

  • I used to volunteer regularly at a local no-kill cat shelter, but haven't started up again since DS was born.  I do miss it, but I have a hard time being away from him 1 night every week when I already work full-time.

I felt that way at a previous job, and honestly, since I was working overtime in my DH's area, it was volunteering.

I haven't volunteered on a regular basis since I was a teenager, just mainly for certain events or one day activities.  =(
