need Breakfast at Tiffany's shower ideas

i had an awesome idea for a baby shower the other day. I'm having a little boy but i don't want to have a planes, trains, and automobiles or super-hero party just yet. we'll wait till his first birthday for that. Showers are for the Mom-to-be, right?

anyway, i was looking at stuff on orientaltrading.com and saw these beautiful soft turquoise square plates and instantly thought of Tiffany blue. then it hit me. why not do a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme for my baby shower. keep it elegant and simple, no kitch. no balloons. just a nice afternoon tea with a touch of class. baby bingo annoys me so!

other than the general theme i am at a complete loss for what else to do. does anyone have some ideas for activities?

Get yourself a hostess and let her decide on many of the items. You can make suggestions if this is something you want. I went to a shower that was a "tea party"...really cute. They had all these dainty cups and saucers with all different types of tea. It was very elegant. BTW...they did play a couple of games. Otherwise it would have been elegant but b-o-r-i-n-g. Most of the planning should be up to your hostess though.

Just google Breakfast at Tiffanys and tons of stuff will come up. My shower was going to be this theme if I was having a boy...but its a girl. I think my hostess was sort of bummed but insisted on a butterfly theme if it was a girl. I think it would have been fine for a girl too. Oh well, she is in charge, not me.

but people WILL be put off if you throw your own shower. Don't do that

Breakfast at Tiffany's along the lines of the book/movie (but since the book is actually really depressing I am guessing more so the movie) or more just along the lines of the jewelry store?

movie: wear you little black dress a la Miss Hepburn, hmmm...ok so the more I am thinking about it I am guessing you might just mean the store since the movie revolves so heavily around casual sex, alcohol, and illegal operations...not too baby shower-y.
