GD- I might have figured out my lunch numbers?

Since my diagnosis at 14 weeks I have struggled with my lunch numbers. I was going about 3-3.5 hours between my am snack and lunch. They were always high no matter what I did or how careful I was about what I ate.  Yesterday I ate an early snack because of a court appearance. I had a head ache yright before 10am, it's my only sign of low bs, so I checked and it was 71.  I usually don't eat lunch till 12.  I had a snack, and my post lunch number after forgetting to take the glyubride was 94.  I thought it was a fluke, but just to test, I ate breakfast at 6am today, then snacks at 8am and 10 am, post lunch with gluybride was 77! I wonder if all this time my sugar was just getting too low before I ate lunch, and I was having spikes?  Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: GD- I might have figured out my lunch numbers?

  • My dietician told me if I wait too long between a snack and a meal, my body would basically spike my sugar for me so I did not get too low.  She suggested on days when I am going to go a long time between lunch and dinner (usually Friday and Saturday due to work schedules) that I should ahve two snacks in that time period and even wrote that on my meal plan chart.  She wants me to make sure I eat every two to three hours to prevent my body from dosing me with stored sugar and causing spikes.

  • Yep- definitely a possibility.  I was also told not to go more than 2-3 hours without eating.  Sounds like that rule really works for you!
