2nd Trimester

How many days of work have you missed?

since you got pregnant?

I've missed 3 - due to migraines (try to teach kids when you can barely keep your eyes open because it hurts too much, lol)

I'm feeling like total crap right now, nauseous, tired, nose bleeds all morning, etc. and I want to go home but I feel bad that it's really just pregnancy related, and I feel like a big baby.

I just wanted some company for my misery...

Re: How many days of work have you missed?

  • I think I've missed about 4 days. 3 due to migraines. Sad

You should go home..your body needs rest. I understand feeling guilty though...

  • Awe, I'm sorry! I hope you feel better soon!

In answer to your question: 1 1/2. I was really sick last Monday so I just stayed home and the 1/2 day was because of my son being sick.

  • Sorry, haven't missed any so far.  But I am being really stingy with my paid time off.  Have to save it all for 12 week maternity leave.

  • I have a ton of appts because I'm high risk and since evening appointments are impossible to get, I'd say about 4-5 days total.

None.  Except for taking a couple hours of sick leave here and there for appointments.

  • i think today makes three or four days.  but one day was because of tornado warnings and not because i was sick.  plus allergies tried to kill me last month.

Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!

  • I've only missed 1/2 a day, It was one of those sleepless nights and I just refused to go in before I slept at least 3 hours.

  • I haven't missed any, aside from coming in late or leaving early for appointments.  That being said, I've had a really easy pregnancy, I'm one of the lucky ones.

I think I've taken off two days that were pregnancy related.  I would have liked to take off a whole lot more though!

This. I'm saving it all so I can get paid for all 12 weeks of my maternity leave since my organization covers 6 weeks of it.

  • I don't have any flexibility when it comes to getting in late/leaving early for appointments, so I've missed 5 days so far, and have one more half day before the school year is over.  One day I was sick, but the rest are a compilation of half days where I had to get a sub.

It stinks, to be honest.  At the other schools I've worked at, the principals were much more accomodating and I didn't have to use up sick time.  They would just cover my class so I could take the first or last appointment of the day at doctor's offices.  No so lucky this year!

Unfortunately, I have enough sick time for 12 weeks paid, but our contract only allows us to take 8 weeks paid and then 4 weeks unpaid to total 12.  So I have essentially 4 weeks of sick time that I can't use for the baby... It's very tempting

  • 7.  2 of those days were because I had a really nasty cold that turned into a sinus infection and 5 of those days were when I was home on bed rest after bleeding and an overnight stay in the hospital.  I wish I hadn't lost all those sick days!
  • About 1 1/2. My job has been extremely accomodating for my doctors appts and such. I just get the earliest appt available on Fridays only, and when Im done I go back to work. As for the days Ive missed, one was because I had an ear infection and my doctor sent me home for the day, and the half day, I was really exhausted, went to work, did what had to be done and my boss let me go.
  • I've missed 2 due to a sinus infection (tied to the fact I can't take my regular allergy medicine); need to save every bit for leave since I don't really get one, just use my accruals.

  • 2, both for migraines.

  • Just one, for my first appt. I haven't been sick enough (thankfully!) to stay home, and I'm guarding my sick leave days fiercely for when baby comes.

I left an hour early for my last appt., but I can flex my time (come in early, stay late on a different day) to make up for it. My boss is very flexible.

This as well.  I am only planning on 8 weeks off, but that could change.  I am able to flex my time, so I just usually work later or come in earlier on days I have appointments etc.

  • ZERO.. i had m/s and i get headaches but I want to save my sick days for when I really feel like there is no possible way to make it in to work.

  • 2, one I was going to take as a halfday, the day of my 20 week US and I knew I wasn't going to be able to concentrate anyways so I called in.
  • I havent really missed any full days. DH and I have taken 3 half days for afternoon ultra sound apts, there just wasnt any good since to go back to work after them. We would go back to work for just an hour or two and then leave again. I am trying to save my vacation days for when I really need them later on. But I have almost drindled away my sick time on dr apts and those half days.

  • I've been fortunate; even though my "all-day" sickness was pretty severe during the first trimester, I managed to only miss a couple of hours here and there and so far I've not missed an entire day of work.

I'm planning to take off the whole day of our sonogram/gender determination. However, my mom is coming into town and the appointment is on Friday, so I will have the whole day to spend with her and my husband (who is also taking the whole day off so we can start really getting a registry going and do a little shopping ourselves.)

I took two non-baby related unpaid days back in April for a weekend trip home we'd already planned some months ago. (I've not been with my employer long enough to take actual vacation - it's the downside of this job, but there are other things that make it worth it.) I'm just trying to keep the time off to a minimum.

  • None, but thankfully I have the flexibility to come in late/leave early for appointments or migraines or desperate need for a nap, as long as I get the work done later in the evening.

  • None.  I get 3 sick days a year and 10 vacation days a year.  And no paid maternity leave.  I'm trying to suck it up so I have it all to use when the baby is born.

  • I have missed 3, but two of those weren't even for me, lol, they were appts for my daughter.  I am able to make my OB appts late in the evening, so I won't need to take off work. My daughter's pediatrician isn't that accomodating.

I have a pretty lax job- an office desk job with a bathroom next door- and pretty well everything I need to be comfortable. Plus, my "morning sickness" was always at 8 pm, while I was trying to get my DD to bed.

  • Less than 1...had a bad cold in March, left early 2 days in a row. Other than that, I know if I sit at my desk for another hour I'll start to feel a bit better. Nothing seems to last forever with me these days...

Just one, but seriously, it was for the best. My mental health was shot on a particular day and my boss was in the loop on it. I worked from home and got more done than if I would have come into the office.

  • I seem to miss on average about one a month, but that doesn't count the first two months, so I think 3 so far.  But I have flex-time, so I have had MANY days I've come in late and stayed late, or left early for Dr. appt, etc.  So in that way I'm very lucky.  But some days (like today) my body was just too messed up to even think about working.  So I figure the rest and restoration is really better because then I can be more productive when I am there.

I feel so, so sorry for women who have crappy employers or bad HR policies and can't rest when they need to.  One of many things I think we need to fix in this country.  Pregnancy can really take a toll on a lady!
