Would you go to the Dr.?

For a broken toe?  I stumped my toe this morning and I'm fairly certain it is injured pretty bad, probably broken.  I heard it pop followed by immediate swelling and then there's the fact that it's bent away from the rest of my toes (it's my pinky toe).  I can't put too much pressure on that foot so I'm just limping around.  I know that there is nothing (or so I think) that can be done for a broken toe.  Would you go to the Dr anyway?

If so, can you recommend your PCP?

Re: Would you go to the Dr.?

  • I would, but I'm a pansy and would convince myself that I'd die of gangrene or flesh eating bacteria without a doctor's intervention, lol :)

    Hope it feels better soon!

  • No, I wouldn't.

I would be taking IBprofen (sp?) every four to six hours religiously to keep the swelling down.  You can also tape it to the toe next to it to keep it from any extra movement.  You'll be hurting for a couple days, then you'll probably just feel it when it moves awkwardly for a few weeks after that.

Sorry about toe injury.  Those always feel terrible, for such a little toe.

  • I see Dr. Bristol at Wells Branch Medical Center and like him a lot.
  • Normally, I would say no, but if it's bent away from your other toes you might need to have it set.  :(
