In home child care

anyone on here use (or plan to use) in-home child care?  If so, did you use a nanny service, or find someone on your own?

I live near the UofM and it would be great to find an experienced college student (or someone else) that is available, but not sure where to start.  I work from home almost every day, but need someone to take care of the LO so I can actually work, especially for the fist 6 months.

any suggestions would be great!  I tried looking through the UofM webpage to see if I could post somewhere, but didn't have any luck.

  • I would check with early childhood majors at the U.  Call the Child Development center there and see if someone can point you in the right direction as for as a job posting board.

You might end up needing 2 different college students with opposite schedules, but in your situation that sounds like it might work.

  • When I was there, there was a site where off-campus business could list job openings.  But I'm not sure what the criteria was for that... I think that most of them had to be bigger businesses or places that were qualified to offer work study if they were off-campus.  The only other jobs they would list on the website were on-campus, U of M jobs.  The website has changed since I was there, but this is how it was 2-3 years ago.

I agree that you could check with the Child Development center and just see if they could tell you where to go.  I would say you could post on the bulletin boards in the building where most of the classes are, but school is out soon, so probably not a lot of people would see it.

Honestly, a lot of students use craigslist to look for jobs.  I would post there and you might have to weed out some weirdos, but you could probably find what you're looking for.
