Trying to Get Pregnant

Every day vs. every other day?

What's your opinion on timing sex when TTC? I've heard that every other day gives sperm a chance to "build up" but every day could work too right? Just wondering about the timing of it all...

Re: Every day vs. every other day?

  • We try for every other day because DH has no known sperm issues... I think that's the general rule of thumb.  GL!!

  • We try for every other day and every day around O because DH has no sperm issues. It can get tiring!

  • Every day is fine as long as your husband has no known sperm issues. If he DOES have a low sperm count or low motility, then EOD is probably better.

  • We have sex EOD, but after an OPK we try to do it every day until I know I've Od.

Boo, I had it backwards... Thanks Sarah!

  • If there are no known issues with sperm, EOD is fine, and so is ED. This cycle, we are going to try ED because the past couple cycles, our timing hasn't been great and we don't want to miss it this time around!

  • My opinion is to do it whenever you feel like it.  If you want to do it every day- GO FOR IT!  this is what DH and I do.  Usually right around the time I'm going to ovulate my sex drive is through the roof...so thats just how it works out for us.

We tried everyday of fertile CM this cycle and we both burnt out. My vagina does not want anything to do with his penis right now. And look who hasn't ovulated yet. (well maybe I did yesterday but time will tell)

We won't do this to ourselves again. we'll probably do EOD of fertil cm and everyday following a +opk.

If your husband has know sperm issues ED is fine

Ha! I don't want to get to this point either. They've always been fond of each other - I don't want to ruin that relationship. ;)

  • We do every other day, no known sperm issues; it's just more of giving us a break to rest and it feels like less pressure that way.

Well there are five fertile days, ie your "window"...those are the three days before O, day of O, and day after.  FF gives you "high" percent if you have sex at least three times in that window so if you know when you O by using OPK's or history on charting I would just plan on three days minimum then.  (Of course Itsmegin proved today with her BFP that you don't need great timing, but it never hurts right?)

Example for me:  This month since I almost ALWAY (after 11 cycles I know just how predictable I am) ovulate on cd14 or 15.  We planned on having sex on cd 11, 13, & 14 and then on CD 16 if my temp didn't raise on the cd15 so that we'd have three in the fertile window.  We couldn't on cd15 because we had late night plans but I like seeing "High" more than "good" on chances that FF gives you if you only have sex twice in the fertile time.

  • I'd do EOD. We tried ED on this past cycle around the time I thought I should ovulate, but we got tired and didn't try for a week because we both were very sore. And guess what happened? I o'd sometime during the weekend we didn't try!!! It's frustrating so pace yourself, so you and DH don't burn out.

    This.

I decided after three months of poor timing (and having my CHs moved, which didn't help things) that we'll try every day for seven days as soon as I see EWCM.

Wow, I'm glad we're not the only ones who got worn out trying to do it every day. :)  We were really good right around when I thought I O'ed, but I think we'll try every other day this cycle.
