Babies: 3 - 6 Months

4 month wakeful.... not a myth

As evidenced by me being awake right now. The little man is in his crib. He's still awake. He usually puts himself back to sleep so I'm hoping he'll do that but it's been over an hour since he's been up. He's had a bottle, been held by mommy for a bit, but it's sleep time, not play time! He's playing in his crib as we speak. Oh, and this is night 3 of my previously (since 7 weeks) STTN baby. Sigh. The 4 month wakeful is NOT a myth.

  • I'm up too. As I have been the last week or so. But DD is hungry and completely sucks down a bottle. Is that also a sign of the 4 month wakeful?

  • Nope, not a myth. We've been dealing with it since 3.5 months. DD slept through the night almost immediately... not anymore!

  • I thought it was a myth until we got to 4.5 months.  Every night for the past 5 nights, each of my twins have been up once but normally twice. Each. At separate times.  Im exhausted.

Oh my goodness, I feel for you. I'm exhausted with just DD waking up throughout the night - I can't imagine what it would be like with two.
  • I'm not gonna lie, I used to think it not only was a myth, but the dumbest one ever. I take that alllll back! Lol. Nathan has had me up the past 3 nights 2-3 times. Sometimes he doesn't even want the bottle, he just wants to look around and play. He STTN since 5 weeks. I want my sleeper back! Ughhh :( We'll get through this lol. Thank God I work nights.
  • I hear ya.  DS STTN frm weeks 6ish-14.  Them BAM! no more.  Our 4 mo wakeful has drifted into the 5 month wakeful...I was up last night a 1230, 2, and 3.  He's not really interested in eating; just wants to cry and talk to himself.

My DD is the opposite. Last night when she woke up at 3am, it took her almost 45 minutes to eat her bottle. She didn't seem the slightest bit interested in it.
  • So not looking forward to this...especially since we were going to deswaddle at 4 months. Sigh.

  • Nope, definitely not a myth. Evan has been up 2or 3 times for the past 3 nights...and up at 5am for the day.
  • we're right there with you..DS wakes up twice a night now and he has been STTN from 5 weeks.....

I know we were spoiled early but this is a major pain now:( He does smile at me as soon as I walk in the room though, the timing is just bad bc I just started back at work

Luckily, my 4 month wakeful has manifested itself in DS dropping naps.  He naps every other bottle now for about half an hour, instead of every bottle for an hour, and still STTN (from about 830 to about 7).

  • It's been crazy. He's like wide awake and ready to play in the middle of the night all of a sudden! And I kept the lights off, didn't turn on the tv to entertain myself while feeding him, totally did everything possible to encourage him going back to sleep and no dice. Sigh. I hope it doesn't last long. I enjoyed being spoiled by my good sleeper.
