Peepee and booty. My niece and nephew know the real words like vulva and vagina, it creeps me out for a little kid to say those words....but I grew up saying peepee and booty!
I use to say I'd call 'em what it is .... so they don't get confused when I give it a "cute" name
But I have found myself telling DD to get her hand outta her cookie ... why I picked that I will never know, I think it just popped out my head at the time
DS I say wiener for now
I don't mind the word penis but the word vagina is odd
For the love of God people, as someone who taught sex ed, please use the real terms so your kid knows what they are and what they do. It drove me nuts that parents would let their kid believe they peed out of their vagina (hense my distaste of the word peepee). Blech.

We call DD's a Tee tee. That what I called it as a kid so I guess that is where it came from. She will know the proper name when she is old enough to understand.

well not everyone is teacher and I hope you plan on teaching your daughter about her clitoris and when she walks around saying clit you won't punish her for being politically correct.

I"m going to go ahead and say it. I give a major side eye to people who make up stupid terms for anatomy and then teach this to their child. It's very immature.
Girls have a vulva and boys have a penis. If for no other reason than give your child the tools to tell someone that they've been touched inappropriately, they should know the names of their own anatomy.

Hmm either you are trying really hard to try and school me (fail) or you are failing to recognize you are your child's first teacher and should teach her properly instead of naming her body parts cutsie video game character names.

Um, you do realize that clit is a SHORTENED version of clitoris. Doodle dee, winkie, dinker, and pekachu are not even remotely close to the proper names. And what does being politically correct have to do with saying clit vs clitoris?
I don't see what the major issue is w/ not using anatomically correct terms?? what is the big deal....I am sure my child won't enter college still not realizing his bird (or whatever we call it) is, in fact, a penis.

I totally agree (obviously). Although I am now definitely considering pink taco if I ever have a girl. Really, why wouldn't I call it that?

To each his/her own.
Because- god forbid- if a child is ever molested, it can be VERY difficult for adults to understand or even confirm that a child has been touched inappropriately. If a 3 year old says "So and so played with my penis/vulva/vagina", ANY adult will CLEARLY know what has happened. If a 3 year old says "So and so played with my pekachu", a teacher or other adult would not have the slightest clue that the child is telling them that they have been sexually assaulted.
Worst case scenario, sure, but why NOT at least do your child the favor of arming them with proper terminology.

My concern would be if someone touched DS inappropriately and he told someone (like a teacher) that so and so touched his bird, the teacher isn't going to be concerned b/c she doesn't know that's what we refer to his private parts as.

maybe it's regional, but going w/ the example of calling a penis a bird....isn't that common knowledge that is a common nickname? I do realize that molestation is something to be very serious about...so I am not making light of...but I can't imagine even if a child said 'so and so touched my pekachu<picked that term b/c that's definitely one I've never heard>" the person would then ask what a pekachi.u is and go from there?? I am also guessing if a child doesn't tell his/her own parent (who of course would know the terms used) they could tell someone like a teacher/doctor/police officer who would have some sort of training on the subject. (my aunt was a lunch lady and even had to have this sort of training).

Ok. What would be the reasoning behind NOT using vagina/penis?

I have never heard of a penis referred to as a bird, and if a child told me someone played with his bird, I would assume he was referring to a pet bird he owned.
Just because someone has training in how to deal with molestation, doesn't mean they're going to suspect it everytime a child tells them a 'friend' played with something that sounds like a toy or pet.

Can I just say, that as someone who actually experienced sexual abuse by a baby sitter when I was a child, my parents knew exactly what the hell I was talking about when I told them. Just as I'm sure anyone else would know given the manner in which is stated. That's not something you run to your teacher with smiles screaming out loud.

Penis and vagina.
These words are no different than ear, elbow or leg. Why would I call a body part another word then what it is?
Haha

Personally, I'm going to go with pink taco and blue sausage.
