InVia Fertility - Dr. Karande & Klipstein - opinions?

Hi Ladies, I will be going to see an RE soon and was looking at InVia Fertility because they have office in Hoffman Estates and Crystal Lake.  Have any of you used or heard anything about them?  I called this morning about scheduling my HSG with them but the receptionist was confused since I wasn't yet a patient so I chickened out and called my OB to do it.  But will be calling someone after HSG is done to become a patient.  I want someone in the NW suburbs or far NW suburbs.  TIA!

  • I went to FCI downtown, so I don't know these two RE's but maybe you should call back and schedule a consultation with one of them. Many times they don't charge you for consultations and it's a good idea to have your OB records and your husband's spermanalysis sent over to the RE before the consult so they have a clear picture of what to do.

  • I used InVia!  My OB recommended them, so I really didn't do any research of my own as to where to go.  I would ask your OB for a rec.

There's lots of good and bad I can say.  My big issue (maybe mean of me to say) was money b/c infertility treatment is very expensive!  I had a lifetime max for treatment on my insurance and honestly, I really feel like I was taken advantage of for having insurance.  When it ran out and we had to pay out of pocket, I feel like our treatment plan changed.  You have to pay upfront and I was told that if insurance did cover some visits, I would be reimbursed.  So when we were all done, I I check all my insurance benefits, I found almost $1,000 that I paid and insurance paid but InVia would not reimburse me.  So that was really aggravating.

Dr. Klipstein was my doctor, but it seemed like she was never available to do the procedures and Dr. Karande did them all.  I am more comfortable with women doctors, but if I had known Dr. Karande was going to do it all, I would have rather been with him the whole time. It seemed silly for him to perform the procedure, but them my consult would be with her.

The good stuff?  Well, I did finally get pregnant!  Most of the nurses and staff are really nice and they are pretty flexible with appointment times.  Also, their out of pocket costs are less than some other clinics.

Personally, when it was all said and done, I wouldn't recommend them to any of my friends.

Feel free to contact me if you want more detailed info.  Hope this helps a little and best of luck to you!!!

  • I don't know those doctors but I can't say enough good things about Dr. Randy Morris.  He has offices downtown, Naperville, and Plainfield (too far for you).  His website is ivf1.com
