Manchester Area Mommies to Be?

Hi Everyone!

I'm new here, I'm expecting my first baby in November and am looking to connect with other mommies or mommies to be who can give advice on Doctor's who deliver at the Elliott hospital.  I'm currently a patient at Bedford Commons but I have some reservations about the practice.  Any suggestions would be incredibly helpful!

Thank-you!

Re: Manchester Area Mommies to Be?

  • Hello,

I used Manchester Obstetrical Associates for both my pregnancies.  https://www.manchesterob.com/

Their office is right across the parking lot from the Elliot.    There are 5 OBs in the practice so it's really easy to make appointments.   The office staff and all the nurses are awesome.

  • Welcome!

I'm a Manchester Mommy-to-be and started at Bedford Commons as well.  Unfortunately, by week 12 they were very rude, had an intense wait to get into appointments and very hard to deal with either staff wise or with my insurance.  (I have TriCare, which is one of the easiest insurances to work with).  I transfered to Manchester OB and have never been happier!!  All of their staff are fantastic, they've gone above and beyond to work around my husbands deployment schedule (and his few available times to come home) and I've never had to wait more then ten minutes to get into a room (even when I show up early).  Their convenient location is real nice too, and then they can refer you right to a pediatrician within the Elliot.  I would definitely recommend them above anyone else around here.  Congrats on your little one!!!

  • Thank you both SO much for your input!  I will definitely look into Manchester OB.  My sister just had a baby and went through Bedford Commons - she had the same experience.  She felt several nurses and doctors were unnecessarily rude to her.  My sister-in-law is a labor and delivery nurse in Boston and she recently had her first baby as well and started at Bed Commons but switched shortly after realizing she wasn't receiving quality care.  Obviously we want the best for ourselves and our little ones!!  Thanks again!!
  • I was a patient of Bedford Commons up until about 25 weeks.  After touring both the Elliot and the CMC I decided to go with a CMC affiliated hospital.  And I decided I really wanted the midwife experience.  So, I transfered to the Dartmouth Hitchcock midwives.  So far I love them.  And they are really about making my delivery about me.  The only practice I would stay away from is Montanarella...I have heard terrible things about her and her delivery practices.

Good luck.  And check out Nini Bambini.  It is a unique boutique in Bedford.  They have a little store and offer a ton of classes and activities from moms and/or babies.  They have a website or you can go in and check it out.  They even have a free mommy and me class for moms and newborns.

  • I am a patient at Manchester OB also.

I just delivered my twins last week and let me tell you the nurses at Elliott were a god send to me. They held my hand and cried with me. I would highly recommend them.

  • I was just at Bedford Womens Care (and they dropped OB services), so @ 17 weeks, I am switching to Bedford Commons.  My coworker loved Bedford Commons and I am really hoping for good things!
  • Hii! I live in Manchester and also due in November. I plan on going to Elliot for the delivery as well. I was recommended to see Dr. Montanarella by a few people. My first appt. with her is next week so I'll let you know how it goes!!
  • I am also at Bedford Commons and am happy with the care I have been receiving. I am expecting twins and want to go over the birth plan with them soon (hoping for natural) so we will see how happy I am then. Though for my first intake appt the nurse said a vaginal birth is possible depending on positions of the babies. The only problem I have had was at my last appointment the nurse was rude to me because I mentioned an issue I was having that was not prenatal and apparently required a separate appointment (which I didn't realize). The doctor could not have cared less though.
  • Im a little late but I was at Bedford Women's Care for my DD and when their practice split up I went with the Dr who delivered me when she moved to DHMC, I delived at CMC and loved it and will this time around as well.

I hope you were able to find an OB you love I have heard great things about Eliot as well as CMC.
