Yesterday I was eating lunch in my car with DH in the Publix parking lot. Across from us a car pulls up and there are 5 kids in the backseat, all 2-4 years old. None of them have seatbelts on, and all of them are like jumping beans, trying to push to look out the window, leaning into the front seat, etc.
I don't know what's crazier, the fact that there were 5 toddlers loose in the backseat of a car, or that 2 women were trying to take 5 toddlers grocery shopping.
Then, the youngest one started crying in one of the ladies' arms, so she smacked her in the face. And the other lady left the oldest one sitting in the front of a cart, and he grabbed the car door and pushed off, and the cart scraped all along the side of a convertible mercedes that was parked next to them. She saw him do it and they just walked off.

At least now on days where I'm feeling like a crappy parent I have this picture in my mind!
Re: Saw 5 kids under 4 loose in the back of a car
Calling the cops is not being a biotch...it's looking out for the well being of those innocent kids. I would have called the cops too!
I remember one summer my mom had another military wife babysit me during the day. I think I was in 2nd grade. One day she took me to Kings Dominion in Richmond. We lived on Andrews AFB, so it was a decent drive. I sat on the floor board in the front/passenger side. Thank god nothing happened to me.
I wonder if I ever told my mom about it.
I remember being about 4 and my daycare lady's teenage son put us in the back of his car and drove around the neighborhood like a maniac, I didn't tell my parents till I was older. Between that and another lady smoking in the house, and another lady letting my infant brother CIO in the playpen while she watched TV, I'll never put Allie in an in-home place!
Fortunately, when I was younger, my mom ran an in-home daycare. She even CDed all the children to save the parents money, if they wanted. She finally had to quit because she could not compete any longer. The prices of milk and fresh fruit/veggies was too much, and she refused to feed her kids junk.
I also had a horse trainer that drove drunk with me when I was in junior high. I don't think I told her about that either...
