well.. sunday is mothers day.. tuesday is my birthday. every few years they fall on the same day

now that i'm a mom i kind of feel like i'm gonna get jipped and it's already started!

DH asked me today if I mind if I don't get a gift on Mothers Day because he wants to combine the two

i of course said i don't mind but bleh, i secretly do a little :P

Umm I would freaking mind its your first mothers day. go tell him you mind! you bore him a child damn it he owes you at least 2 seperate days to celebrate

That really sucks! Especially since its your first Mother's Day.....it would almost be better to celebrate that day and then not do a ton on your bday...but thats just my opinion.

My mom's bday is less than a week after Mother's Day and my dad always combines it into one gift, but I always make sure and have something seperate to celebrate the two different occasions.

I have to spend my first Mother's Day with my MIL, who I really dislike. When HH was born, she made a big deal about seeing him 'cause she'd driven all this way, even though he was in NICU and couldn't breathe; she didn't care that I hadn't seen him yet, AND she had pneumonia! I am still very angry with her, and I know the fact that it is my first mother's day is going to be totally discounted at her house. Grrr. I'm already mad about it.

I completely understand! My birthday is always around mothers day too. It wasn't a big deal until this year, but now that I'm happily a mommy I'm going to get "combo" gifts too. What's worse is that DH will be traveling for work for part of mother's day so I really won't have much of a special 1st mother's day at all. At least I can have the gift of one-on-one cuddle time with DD, that's the best gift I could ever get!

Go to DH and retract your original answer! LOL. I was born a few days after Christmas and i ALWAYS got combined gifts. I never really complained, but when i would my mom would brush it off and say that i'm being silly. Ugh.. bday gifts will holiday wrap sucked!! So, tell your DH you do mind!!

I don't think you're being selfish at all! It's not like he has to do 2 extravagant things for you on both days, but each day should be celebrated separately.

NastyAnnie---I could have written that exact post, except the seeing my MIL on Mother's Day. That WON'T be happening. Our DS was in the NICU as well and DH's parents showed up uninvited and asked why we wouldn't ask the nurses to "roll DS up to the window" for them to see him. He was on a ventilator you ASS! UGH. I feel for you.

My b-day was last week and I got a couple of books. He mentioned he had already bought my mother's day present though. It better be good

I have a feeling I didn't get much for my b-day because I am kind of getting a combo present also. We shall see!
