I have read 2-8 hours, which really makes me feel like I have no idea. I try to look for patterns and consider what foods I ate that do not bother him. For example, I love broccoli so I tried it at dinner at 4 wks amidst a day of foods I knew did not bother him. It resulted in a night of gas & crying. I reintroduced it to my diet 2 wks ago at dinner on another bland day-- he didn't scream all night, but he was gassy again.
When it comes to milk, you have to cut that out for about 2 wks (I think) before you can tell if baby reacts to it. My little guy cannot handle it yet if I drink cow's milk.
I hope this helps!

I've wondered this too. When I eat broccoli it seems to affect DD immediately at the next feeding! Like a pp, the times I ate it made for terrible nights. I've been avoiding it since! She seems to be able to handle all other foods, so I don't know how quickly most things get to her.

Different foods vary in the time. I think I saw an article in American Baby just yesterday actually. I didn't really pay any attention other than to see that everything takes a different amount of time.
