2nd Trimester

How long do you plan on keeping your baby stuff?

We have talked about having 2 kids...maybe 3.  But I'm pretty sure I'm holding onto all baby stuff at least 5 years after the last baby is born just in case.

My sister had 2 kids, swore she was done and then had another baby and literally had nothing.  She had to borrow it all from me.

  • Only thing I would probably replace is the car seat.  If its one you got for LO #1 it could be expired by the time #3 came along.

  • We are only having two children, so I am getting rid of everything after this baby.  I am 36 and this is it for me.  Now, if for some reason we win the lottery or come into a boatload of money and can afford to hire a nanny and keep me as a SAHM, I may consider a third...LOL  (but if we have that much money, I can rebuy the baby items)
  • keeping it until i know were done or if any of my sisters have one and need it. op p.s. how cute is the picture of you and LOs piggys. ahh i love it.?

Thanks!  We did them last night.  Mother/daughter pedis. :)

  • Until DH gets a vasectomy after we decide we're done having kids :)

DH's brother & his wife were DONE, they had 3 kids and then sold off their baby gear and clothes as their youngest out grew it. She was on birth control and found out earlier this year that #4 was on the way. Needless to say she's had to re purchase everything.

Yeah DD is at the age now where she wants to chew on her hands instead of her feet.  So I felt pretty safe doing them.  My DCP gave me the side eye when she saw them but it's my kid and I can paint her piggies if I want to. ;)  Plus she really loved it.  She sat there so perfectly while I did them!

  • We are keeping our baby stuff for quite some time.  DH and I have already decided that we want four kids, but what we haven't decided is how close we want them together.  I would prefer having each kid within two years of the next, but DH wants to do what my parents did - have two close together, take a few years' break (my parents did 10 but not on purpose, and I don't think we'd wait this long), and then have two more close together.  But whether we wait or not after the first two, I know I'll be needing it all again, so I'll hold on to my stuff for as long as it still works for me.

  • After our 1st, we kept everything except for a lot of the hand me down clothes and I lent my friend the bouncy. The rest has been stored. And now we on #2. So I guess it depend on if you plan on having kids any time soon after the new baby. We don't b/c pregnancy is a horrible ordeal for me and I expected this time to be easier, but its been much harder. So I guess keep the big things, so you don't have have to repurchase them. We get to use our carseat again since it doesn't expire til 2013, but the stroller that came with it is kinda on its last leg, we plan on getting a double stroller.

  • Our children will only be about 13 months apart, so we plan on reusing all the gear that he grew out of on this baby.  We lucked out since he grew out of infant car seat, we moved him to a bigger seat, and the new baby can use his.  Since we're having a girl this time, the only stuff we'll be buying are clothes, some blankets and towels, and some new bibs.  The expensive stuff, we already have.
