Trying to Get Pregnant

Poll: How many kids do you consider as having "a lot"?

After our party last night our neighbors commented that we seemed to have a lot of kids here. ? Our friends have 4 and another due any day, so they are like an instant party anyway. ?I said this to my neighbors and she was like "Oh my, that is a lot of kids, I would lose my mind." ?They have 3, so it was funny to hear her say that 4 was a lot. ?So at what point do you personally consider a person having "a lot" of kids??

  • I would say about 6 is a lot to me. I have 4 sisters, and I didn't think we seemed like my family had a lot of kids.
  • I would think that 4-5 is a lot. DH and I want to have 3 and that doesn't sound too bad, but for whatever reason 4 sounds like so much more.
  • I think it all depends on each situation and parents. If my children where all as well behaved and calm i would love to have 4..mabye 5. Now if i had a crazy dare-devil, rebel in the bunch i would stick with two. One for DH and one for me to watch at parties and trips. I would think anything over 5 would be alot for me. It is wierd how more can make u think it is alot of children.

I guess because I know alot of families that have 3 that it doesn't seem odd.  My BFF came from a family of 4 which is a bit much for me personally but not a LOT.  I think you need to get up in the 5 or more for me to say "they have a lot of kids."

  • We would like 3. ?But honsetly, seeing how well our friends do 4, and #5 will be no different I'm sure, it makes me think we could have 4. ?I have never thought this before. ?DH says no way.

I think 5 or more is when I think to myself "wow that is a lot of kids".

I have a friend that has NINE (two sets of twins, the youngest are 7 month twins, and the oldest is 14)! ?All planned, all loved, all extremely well taken care of. ?She amazes me, and so do her kids, they are all so well behaved. ?Her house is always clean, and it seems busy, but not chaotic. This does not make me want that many though. ?

  • Well I don't think 4 is a lot. We want to have 4 kids, but maybe once we have one or two we may think differently. My mother is one of 9, now that I think is a lot!

I come from a big mormon family, so "a lot" of kids to me is pretty relative.? My sister has 5 of her own and 3 foster girls, my brother has 4.? I'd say anything over 6-7 is a lot of kids.

Its?definitely?relative. ?In our?circle, most ?people have three. ?I know that two is the national average, but it seems like such a small family to me, and one that we don't see too often. ?Yet, I think three is that much different!

  • 5+ is a lot to me.  Many of my friends growing up and cousins came from families with 4 kids, so it's pretty normal to me.  Although, I would never dream of having 4 of my own.

  • I would say more than 4 but I guess it depends on the situation.

  • More than 4 seems like a lot to me. There is a family at my school with 8 children and none of them were multiples. The oldest child in this family is in college and the youngest starts school next year. To each thier own. . .Big Smile

  • I'll go with having 4 or more as a lot although I don't honestly see many families these days with more than 2. SIL has triplets but that wasn't much of a choice. We've leaned towards 3 and discussed 4. We'd both love to have a big family but I think anything more than 4 would just be too much for us.

    Hahahaha, true. :-)

She did it by herself for a year before that though. Both her and her husband have very demanding full time job and the kids were 1, 3, 4, 7 and 8 at that time. The baby stayed with her MIL and the other kids went to the private school she worked at. I don't know how she did it before I came, I was impressed.

For me personally, 3+. I like the idea of having one hand for each kid, so I want 2. DH wants 3. 1 would be good anytime soon.  =)
