I posted about this on TTGP yesterday, so my apologies if you already read about this.
My ob/gyn prescribed Estrace estrogen cream for vaginal dryness and irritation, but when I did a little internet research, I saw that it was rated X and should not be used by anyone who is, or plans to become pregnant. The ladies on TTGP told me that many IF docs prescribe it, so I was hoping for some insight.
I called my regular doc for her opinion and she said she would NOT recommend using it while TTC, but that the OB/GYN really had the last say. The thing is, I don't have a lot of trust for this particular OB/GYN (when I do get pregnant, I will choose a new doctor. I didn't like her at all. But my insurance won't cover another visit just to meet docs, so I need to wait until I'm either pregnant, or I've been TTC unsuccessfully long enough to seek medical help).
Any insights you have would be REALLY appreciated.
Re: Anyone use Estrace?
A few of the medicines for IVF say don't take while pregnant. It is different when it is used as part of protocol for achieving pregnancy.
I haven't take an estrogen cream. I have done shots and will be start an estrogen suppository soon. And then an estrogen patch and pills. All of this while trying to get pregnant. But all of this is directed by my RE.
I do believe that it is important to have a doctor you feel comfortable with and can trust. I would consider paying out of pocket for a visit to a new doctor. Its worth the $150 office visit to have peace of mind in the quality of care you are receiving.
Good luck!
i take estrace pills. no experience with the cream. Sorry.
ETA: i should have said that I started taking them after ET, and continue to take them 2x daily. I will take them until the end of first tri.

I have been and will be on estrace for this current IVF. Typically a RE will prscribe medications like these when the patient is going through a course of treatment and under supervision/monitoring. If you are not comfortable with you doctor I would suggest finding a new one before you become pg.
