TTC After a Loss

Progesterone B/W?

My doctor wants me to have my progesterone checked this cycle and wants me to have the blood draw on CD21.  I thought that progesterone blood draws were taken 7 days after ovulation.  My doctor knows that I don't ovulate till CD21-CD23, but still wants the blood draw on CD21.  Any ideas why he is ignoring when I ovulate?

  • Some doctors just aren't so bright.  Have you straight out asked him why?

  • Yes, I just went in circles with the nurse.  She mumbled something about levels not dropping quickly, but I didn't get anywhere.  My luteal phase is barely 7 days, so I thought maybe that was his reasoning.
  • Hmm, I'm not sure.  Maybe he's doing it on CD21 to see if you've even O'd yet.  Or maybe he's checking for a LPD...I don't know if b/w can check this?

  • I go on Friday to get mine done and that will be CD21 as well, which on a so called "normal" cycle is 7 days after ovulation.

He mentioned previously that he thought I may have LPD, so I guess that is his reasoning.  Hopefully the b/w will give me some answers!
