How to comfort a baby with a bad cold?

I know there's not much I can give Olivia but her nose is running non stop, she's coughing, spitting up phlegm, and sneezing so much.  She's not really a crier and she's been crying all night.  We pretty much slept on the couch with me holding her.  Doctor on call said (generic) tylenol for her low fever.  Any other tips moms?

  • Try taking her into the bathroom and steaming it with the shower.  It'll help clear her up.  A humidifier in the room will help too.  Are you using the saline drops in her nose?

  • Definitely a humidifier, or sit in the bathroom with a hot, hot shower running for some steam.  Use the "nose-sucky" to get as much gunk out of there as possible.

    Poor kiddo.

  • A warm bath.  Run the shower with hot water and hold her in the bathroom.  It helps berak up the funk in her nose. Feel better, O!

  • When Jack gets really congested I sit in the bathroom with him with the shower running hot.  The steam seems to help soothe him.

Wee beat me to it.  Exactly this.  I've also found propping on end of Gabe's mattress with a pillow underneath helps considerably.

YES!  That too.  It'll help her breathe better.
