face wash alternatives

I was hoping you ladies could suggest an alternative to neutrogena's oil free acne wash. I have combination skin that gets oily in the summer, and this stuff always dries me out just the right amount while fighting acne, but I want to avoid the salicylic acid.

Any recommendations?

I use the Target brand of Cetaphil for oily to normal skin (white bottle with yellow top).  This is not the white, lotion-y one but is actually whitish clear.  It dries my skin out enough but doesn't have any salicylic acid.

  • I personally use murad products.  But this is coming from a girl that has had severe acne in the past (we are talking accutane as a teen) so I am of the philosophy that is it is better to spend a little more to avoid breakouts (especially now).  It isn't an acne product but an excellent basic face wash.  Keep in mind when choosing a face wash that if you have an oilier skin type, if you use something too drying it will make your skin do the opposite of what you want and start producing more oil to make up for what it thinks it is missing.  Nevermind the fact that people with oilier skin tend to show signs of aging a bit slower so yay for that :)

  • I just switched from Cetaphil to regular Noxema because the cetaphil was leaving my face too oily.  So far so good.
  • I switched to Shea Terra Anti-Acne face wash - I had to order it online but I love it - honestly my skin has never looked better. ?It's natural and organic and you only need about a pea size amount and it also can be used as a mask. ?It was about $22 but worth it in my opinion! ?
