The plan was to sell this house spring of 2011 and build. We chose to go ahead with that plan and stay in this 3 bedroom house with 3 kids until next spring.
Since it's a boy, we're going to move Blaire out of her room and back into the room with the pink/green stripes with Natalie. Last year when we did her a big girl room, she got a bedroom set with a full-size bed. The set is all white. The crib and nursery furniture we bought when Blaire was a baby is what Natalie now uses. It's also all white.
Originally, I was going to store Blaire's full-size bed and get a trundle short term for she and Natalie, but Natalie's not going to be ready for that. She'll still be in the crib well past age two (March 2011). She's still more of a baby than Blaire was at this age.
So, I've decided to buy Baby Boy a whole new crib and furniture set, only this time I'm going to get a convertible crib. So, he will have that in his room, and Blaire and Natalie will share a room, temporarily, with Natalie in the crib and Blaire on something. Her full-size bed won't fit in there with a crib and all the furniture for both of them (some of which I'll have to store).
I've been looking on craigslist for a white twin bed, but I'm just not finding anything. Then, yesterday, a friend told me that her Mom is wanting to sell a twin frame, mattress, and box spring for $30. Friend's nephew used it when he slept over there and it has been slept on less than 10 times. I think that's a pretty good deal, but I've never had a bed with no headboard or footboard.
So, can I see some pictures of your shared girls rooms? and do you think Blaire will be fine sleeping on a frame/mattress for a year?
Sorry so long!

I never had a 'real' bed with footboard and rails til about 3 yrs ago! for just a year, go with the frame/mattress/springs and you can even make her a headboard. You could get some plywood and cover it with fabric, or buy a piece of unfinished wood and cut/paint it....maybe even add something decorative (vinyl quote, jewels of some sort, etc)
Also, maybe check walmart.com for just a cheap headboard.
ETA: yep - there are a ton at Walmart...
