Which Storage Bags do you use to freeze your Breast Milk? Is Medela the way to go or is there another brand that is better?
I'm going to start storing BM soon and I'm also interested to know how much to freeze in each bag? Right now, my son only eats 2-3 ounces in one sitting but I anticipate that I should freeze more per bag since he will likely be eating more than that in a couple of weeks/months.
Thanks.
Re: Which Storage Bags do you use?
I use the medela pump and save, but a lot of posters like the lanisoh bags because they can store flat...allowing for more space saving. I would freeze in 3-4 oz increments partly because he will probably take a 4 oz bottle but also because defrosting is easier in the smaller increments.
I also have some of the Avent disposable storage containers and I like them for the fresh refrigerated milk because they are reusable and they are sturdy and hard to knock over in the fridge. They come in packs of 10 and can store 6 oz.
This! I'd recommend the Lansinoh b/c they're cheaper and store flat.
I use Lansinoh because they're cheaper and like pp said, they freeze flat. It makes a difference if you end up with a lot of frozen milk!
I never really figured out a good system for amounts to freeze ... I do a random assortment of 2 oz, 3 oz, 4 oz and sometimes 5 oz bags. When I defrost one, I just add fresh to bring it up to what Zack is currently taking (5 oz).
