Where to deliver in Tampa? St. Joe's or UCH Fletcher

Looking for feedback on where you delivered either St. Joe's or UCH Fletcher. I have had friends deliver at both, but would like to hear your experiences, good and bad.

Thanks in advance!

  • I'm about to deliver at UCH.  You can sign up for the tour.  I liked everything about it and the nurse giving the tour was excellent and well informed.  Had no problem answering all of my questions (even the unpleasant ones).

  • I delivered at UCH Fletcher in December. They were great! Nurses were very kind and SO helpful (to both me and DH.) I took the tour during the childbirth class so I knew what to expect and had all my questions answered. Definitely recommend UCH :)
  • My OB practice delivers at St Joe's and the Women's hospital is where i had my D&C after my m/c in October.  They were amazing and made a horrible experience as amazing as possible.  Every single staff member i came into contact with was kind, helpful, caring, and expressed their sympathies for my situation.  Although it was difficult getting thru the painful emotions of a loss, my experience at St. Joe's made me hopeful for our next pregnancy and instantly made me look forward to delivering there (this December!).  I felt like i was in the best hands and would recommend them to any woman.
  • i delivered at st joe's in december.  all of the nurses were great.  especially the nurses in the mother baby unit.  one of them is a lactation consultant who helped me tremendously.  highly recommend st joe's
  • I suggest St. Joseph's. They deliver about 8000 babies a year. They have many classes and tours that you can take. They also have a wonderful NICU...just in case. The staff is very educated and provides personalized care. If you are planning for a c/s they also have family centered care.
  • My husband did an internship at UCH on Fletcher and said it was the worst hospital he has been to.
  • I delivered at UCH in the womens center. I loved it. I have heard unsavory things about the actual hospital/ER but the Womens Center was amazing.
