I get such mixed reactions. For a girl I like it, DH likes it, but my aunts nearly gagged and said it sounds like an occupation or reminds them o the pied piper. I know it only matters what DH and I think and I think it's sweet but just curious what the general reaction is. It seems to be a love it or hate it name, not much middle ground.
The ironic thign is that my husband and I do own an underground utility pipeline business so you could argue that DH is a "piper" lol
Re: whats your reaction to the name Piper?
Meh...it's NMS...it reminds of Piper Perabo in Coyote Ugly.
I think she got that name because it was her mum's maiden name.
NMS at all. We like more traditional names.
I do have a cousin who named her daughter Piper and it suits her very well, though.
I'm actually "middle of the ground" w/that name. It's definitely not my personal style, but an acquaintance of mine recently had a baby and named her that, and for some reason I think it's adorable.
Not so sure that it would look great on resumes someday, though.

Mommy to 2 boys, ages 7 and 5 and a little girl who is 1.5
Love, luck, and prayers to my BFPB Dr. SnowflakeBride
I like it
But I'm also a Charmed fan, so...
NMS
For some reason I picture Pippy Longstocking in my mind when I hear that name.
One of my friends used this as a middle name (first name is very traditional) with the idea that if her child wanted to go by it when she was older, she could.
I think its a cute name. Reminds me of that ringleader orphan in "Annie" who I liked as a kid...
LOVE IT! It was our first choice for a girl name. But we are having a boy. We still may use it for a girl in the future. One of the only names I threw out there that DH loved!
I've never heard of it for a boy!
I think it's adorable for a little girl...but might be harder to pull off as an adult.
I still really like it and would consider it!
I think of a small shiny dog at the dog show.
But for some reason I still think it's a cute girl name.

I think it's a beautiful name, but my honest reaction to the name "Piper" is "Pied".
Piper -> Pied -> Mmm, Pie
I'm craving sweets
This is what I thought of too, but I like it.
All right, I must be the only one old enough to remember this, but the first thing that pops into my head is Rowdy Roddy Piper.
In my defense the neighbor boy loved WWF when we were kids and he had all the figures and posters so that's why I remember this.
Sorry, I like the name, but this is the first image it brought to mind.
