Babies: 3 - 6 Months

recommend your Soy Formula!

My LO has been on Nutramigen since 2.5 months for a severe milk protein allergy that was causing blood and mucus in his stool.  Dr said we could try soy at 5 months and if after a week there were no signs of allergic reaction we could stay on it.

So, based on any or all of your reasons including price, frequency of rebate checks, your child's tolerance of it, etc....please recommend your soy formula!

 Thanks!!

Re: recommend your Soy Formula!

  • Hi!  My DD has been on Similac Isomil (soy) since the hospital.  She started out on just plan Similac, but for some reason the nurses switched her to soy.  They told me she was VERY fussy & gassy so they switched.  So I left her on it even after talking to the pedi.  As far as I am aware she has been fine on it.  But I really don't have much to compare to.  Similac is almost always on sale every week somewhere.  Target, Walmart, CVS, etc.  Most expensive I've seen it is for $24.99.  On sale price varies from $19.99 - $22.99.  Plus Similac send $5 coupons every so often, eventhough I haven't gotten any in a while.  Well, good luck!  Hope this helps!

  • DS had to switch to Soy at 2 1/2 weeks old due to a suspected allergy to milk protein.  We were on Isomil but then switched to Earth's Best Organics about a month later...he is doing much better on the Earth's Best.  Much less gas and fussiness (well, until the teething started as of recent...)  It is expensive, but I don't put a price on comfort.  You are allowed to print a coupon on the website from a computer one time....so you can have your friends and family print one out.

  • My son was put on soy and then taken off! I have a few containers if you would like to purchase it from me!! i want someone to be able to use them as they are just sitting in my kitchen! please let me know :)
  • Oh, its Similac Isomil
  • My DD has been on Similac Isomil since 2 1/2 months. She was on generic gentlease first and was suffering from reflux. We started putting cereal in her bottles at 2 months and she would still scream all through a feeding. Then a couple weeks later I decided to try the sample can of soy that I had and ever since that very first bottle of soy (no cereal) she has been a different baby! She even stopped spitting up completely (until recently, but I think it has to do with teething)

  • DS is also on Similac Isomil. He's still a little gassy if we don't get him burped fully, but nothing like when he was on Sim. Advance.

The cheapest I've found it is at Sam's. It's 34 oz. for $28 as opposed to 24 oz for $24 or more at Walmart, Target, BRU, etc.

I got a ton of rebate checks the first four months from Similac, but they haven't sent me any in a month or so.
