Shower Question: Sock matching game?

My mom suggested this game for my shower because she knows how OCD most of my family and I are. We like matching and sorting things. Embarrassed (Put socks in a tub or something and see who can match the most pair in a minute or in 30 seconds) She just is not sure how many socks to get for this game. If you had this at your shower or have hosted a shower with this game, how many pair of socks did you purchase/use?

    Not sure yet. My family is not very good at RSVPing. I assume around 20-ish.

    I would assume maybe 2 -3 pairs per person so that everyone would get a chance to match some.  That's a lot of socks! I would have her buy them in different sizes to, make it a little more difficult. :)

    I think there were 30 at mine. Get different sizes too though - like 10 0-3 month, 10 3-6 month etc.

    We played that at my shower. She just got a dozen pair of really cute similiar looking socks and each person took turns and had 30 seconds to match as many as possible. Whoever matched the most in that amount of time won. There ended up being a tie so we shortened the time to 15 seconds for the tie breaker. It was fun.
