Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Does anyone have an Ergo carrier?

Like? Dislike?  I have a Bjorn which I love but only up to about 14 - 15 pounds.  After that it kills my back and neck.  Not a problem with my other two because at 6 months I moved them to sitting in a stroller but a) my little guy is already 12 pounds 10 oz at 3 1/2 months  and b) with 3 under 4 I think trips places like the zoo (to which we have season passes) would be easier with DD2 in the stroller and DS in a carrier well beyond where the Bjorn is comfy.  I'm wondering if the Ergo would be better for us but it's a lot of money.... TIA!

  • Love it!!!

It's the only carrier LO will tolerate and we've tried several.

I also love that you can do a hip carry with it for when they get older, instead of being limited to a back carry.

  • Do you know how old for the hip and back carry?  Is that something for when they are like 6-8 months or for way later?

Are they really comfy?  My DS is happy enough in the Bjorn it's just getting harder and harder on me.  Especially for long days.  Also how easy is it to get on and off and to get baby in and out?

I like it now. She didn't really take to it at first ,but now we wear her when she is fussy and she calms right down. If you have a store that specializes in baby wearing near you I would try a few different carriers. A lot of petite women prefer the beco (butterfly) or the baby hawk (oh snap). I would also check consignment stores, since carriers can be washed you might find one there.

Not petite at all... I am just about 6 feet tall.  :)  I found a site that offers a 90 day return time to try it out.  I may give it a try and see..

  • We love ours, DH and I both use it, Not sure when you start on back or hip since DS is just 9lbs.

  • Would I need the infant support thing or at almost 13 pounds is he fine to just go right in?  Also does anyone have the Sport version?  What is the difference?
  • I'm 5'3" and I have the regular version.  We used the infant insert until LO was 4 months old or so, which she wasn't wild about.  Now she loves the carrier and I love that it's comfy and barely feels like I'm carrying her (weight wise--obviously not closeness wise Smile).  FYI--they're on sale at diaperjunction.com right now.
