We love the name Callie/Calleigh on it's own (not as a nn). Since our niece's name is Caroline and goes by Caroline, can we still use the name Callie/Calleigh?

Of course you can still use it. Most people named Caroline use nicknames like Carrie or Caro or even Line (yes, I've seen that) anyway.

You can still use it... I'm actually of a different opinion on the spelling - I prefer Calleigh. To me Callie looks like a nickname, whereas Calleigh looks more complete.

Also, in case you're curious, there's a character on CSI Miami called Calleigh (and it's spelled that way for the character). Not that you should use it just because CSI Miami did.

I don't see why not ... my cousin spelled her daughter's name Caeli (if you wanted a more traditional spelling)

I think it'd be fine. And I'd spell it Callie. But I'd probably use Callie as a nn, and Callista for a first name.
