Re: NTTGP: things that give you the heebie jeebies

  • "Extremely large arse spiders" also give me the heebie jeebies! In AL we have these banana spiders that weave huge sticky webs across our backyard and everywhere, they make me nervous all summer. ::shiver:: just thinking about them!

hahahaha I dont know why i find this so humorous but the mental image of throwing a book across the room at a spider is hilarious.  Probably because I would do the same.  My favorite method of defense is hairspray.  Despite my fear of spiders, I never seem to have any bug killer, but hairspray I always have. I spray them into submission and hope they die from it.  It's terrible I know...

Both of these are better than me.  I usually just quarantine the area until DH gets home and gets rid of it.  Once a wasp got into our main living area, and since I couldn't just shut the door on it, I took DD and left.  We stayed out and about all afternoon until DH could get home and vacuum it up.  Maybe I should try the book or the hairspray...

This is me with geckos!! They get in our house during the summer months and I freak the fvck out. It was AWFUL this past summer when DH was deployed and I was left without my gecko protector.

Eventually I learned that spraying ridiculous amounts of Raid on them will eventually kill them. Unfortunately I could never even look at them to figure out where to spray the Raid so I would be spraying it all over a general area hoping I hit the little bastard.

Oh but then eventually there's the problem of the retrieval of the dead gecko...:::shudders:::

I have thrown many a phone book across the room at spiders!  LOL  I used to use the hairspray method, but I don't think I even have hairspray in the house anymore.

If throwing a book doesn't work, I just have to leave the area and wait for someone else to kill it.

Once, when I was in high school, I came home from work one night, and there was a huge spider on our front porch. I was terrified to walk past it, so I grabbed one of our cats who was hanging out outside, and threw her on the porch, in the hopes that she'd attack the spider or scare it off.  She just walked away, and I think I put her back on the porch 3 or 4 times before giving up.  I finally just ran on the porch and into the house as fast as I could.

We can be phobia friends, just with different phobias. I do the exact same "run and pray" method to avoid the geckos that live in our garage. I always jump out of my car and run as fast as I can to unlock the door and get inside so I can avoid an inevitable attack of the evil lurking geckos.

Yes, I'm crazy and I know this.

YES!! Mine is not so much the even number thing, but if I start on my right foot I have to end on my left--which automatically ensures an even number.
