Do strollers and carseats get when they are gate checked? Do we need to buy a carseat bag?

We are debating which stroller to bring (snap and go... very easy, but we've never taken anyplace more than the mall and running errands... so I dont know how it will be at the zoo, it will suck at the beach, which means carrying babies) or (BOB --- which we adore and use all over the neighborhood and the kids love to be in (seats recline) but I fear gate checking this things for fear it will come out wrecked. and they only make a travel bag for the single BOB) we dont have an inbetween stroller yet... and if I see a decent maclaren double at EMOMs this weekend I;ll snag it.... but assuming we dont have that option...

I really dont want BOB getting wrecked (it was over 500!! and a gift from multiple people) but I think the snap and go will be a Pain in the As*

advice please... experiences.... I would also be fine checking carseats with luggage if we brought bob, which we would have to do unless tony wants to lug two empty carseats thru seatac....

Ours didn't get banged up at all..and we checked the carseats as luggage and gate checked umbrella strollers.

We've checked our duoglider four times, and there is no obvious damage from checking at all. We've only checked the car seats once, with no cover, and there was no damage.

We've checked both strollers and car seats multiple times. ?Our stroller has never been damaged - knock on wood. ?But on one flight, our car seats came out kinda dirty - my guess is that they were fabric side down on the floor or something. ?After that flight, I bought carseat bags and we use those for checking them now. ?

when i flew with one boy, i brought a single stroller (not an umbrella) and it was fine. i was worried it'd get messed up, but it was fine.
