Dr has offered to strip mine at my next appointment. I didn't have this done with DD and don't really want to go through the pain of it (knowing contractions will be coming soon anyway) if the process tends not to work.

It worked for me, BUT I was 41 weeks and 3 days when I had it done. My MW did it in hopes of avoiding the induction because I had low fluid.
from what i've read, if your body is ready, it will work.
I had mine stripped last time at 40w3d when I was 2cm and I was in labor 1 hour later. For me it was a last thing to try before we set up an induction the next week. I would never pick to do it before that point. DC will come when they are ready.
