hanging lanterns + ceiling fans?

I was thinking about using hanging lanterns in my nursery, but DH and I were thinking about putting a ceiling fan in LO's room. I got to thinking that the lanterns and ceiling fan might be a bad combo. Anyone have any experience with this?

We want a fan in LO's room (SIDS research) and I know we could achieve the same thing with a floor fan, so this is also an idea. I just didn't want the paper lanterns to be bumping around in there. WDYT?

  • I would imagine they would bump around w/ a ceiling or floor fan.  But you could always just do some trial and error runs to see, it might not be so bad.

You could try to hang them at various hights so they don't bump together... just a thought.
  • We have both a ceiling fan in the center of the room and lanterns along one wall and they are fine. Granted, I don't know if I've put the fan on high, but it has been on medium and low. The lanterns move they they are fine. Here's a pic of how we have them arranged:

  • we have them in our nursery and they are plenty far enough away from the ceiling fan to not be an issue. we don't put the ceiling fan on full blast, but the medium setting has been used and still no issues for us.
