If your LO only rolls back to front....

What do you do for sleeping? My LO sorta rolls front to back...sometimes. She will roll from her back (where I place her to sleep) to her front, get stuck and sometimes I walk in and find her asleep in a really bad position (air wise and she looks really uncomfortable). If your LO does the same, what do you do for sleep? Do I just need to lighten up?

  • Not much I can do - if he wants to roll to his stomach to sleep, I let him. He seems much happier that way.

I think it's the rule to just let her roll while she sleeps because I guess the thing is if she can roll then she will know to move her face in her sleep so she won't breath in her own air.

  • My LO rolls from his back to his front.  He can prop his head up but gets tired and then buries his face in the carpet and cries.  Sometimes I stand there for a few seconds to see if he can flip himself back but I usually turn him over.  He has never fallen asleep on his belly.

A handful of times he's been able to get back on his back.  He still sleeps in the bassinet and I swaddle him so we haven't had a problem.  For naps I'm usually right here too and he'll cry as soon as he wakes.

Right now he's laying next to me sleeping with his face buried in the burp cloth but breathing fine.  Every time I try to move him he goes back :)

  • LO can only roll left to right so at night I prop some blankets on her side so she can't roll over. (Helps her poor lttle flat head too :( )
  • DD only rolls back to tummy and then screams when she is "stuck."  It makes me nuts, especially in her crib. I bought a sleep positioner and it works like a charm!  Keeps her on her back at night.  If she didn't scream on her belly I would probably not worry too much.
  • After DS started rolling over we would try to keep him on his back at night and he would sleep like this at first. But now we just leave him on his tummy and he sleeps better. Except now he sleeps with his legs tucked under him and his butt in the air. lol
