Anybodies else LO preferred not to be held when awake?

Starting about 3 weeks ago when my LO would be up and active she usually became very fussy if I held her after feeding her.  The only way I can get her stop is to put her down....in her swing, bouncy chair, under the play mat, on her boppy, or even just in her crib (she likes looking at the butterlies on her wall).  At first I worried there was some kind of bonding or sensory issue but then she started with her social smiles and cooing and I became less inclined to think this.  I think maybe she wants a little bit better perspective and to be able to kick and move around.  Anybody elses LO this way?

  • I wish, mine is mostly the opposite. Although I would probably be sad if she didn't want to be held.

  • Yes!!! Glad to hear we're not alone in this. When she's awake she just wants to explore the world on her own. I've been trying to explain this to dh cause he thinks its personal that she fusses when he tries to hold her. I'll have to tell him about this post. Smile

  • Yes, so am I (not alone with this that is).  Right now DD is on her playmat and just recently discovered she can hit the objects that hang down..she gets so excited.  She is cooing, giggling, and just pumping those legs everytime that thing moves.  It so cute!
  • Yep, he started really needing alone time

I actually had a post about my LO not wanting to be held much.  She HATES when i try and hold her in the cradle position (unless she is extremely tired or getting ready to nurse).  She has to be up on my shoulder or not be held at all.  She LOVES the bouncy chair and that is what i usually put her in after feeding her.  I was worried about how she didn't want to "cuddle" with me, but i think she is just curious and wants to see everything around her.
