Hello im an newbie stay at home mama in california. i tend to let the tv be the babysitter for me at times and i let her watch most of the shows on nick jr and pbs. ive heard from other moms in the moms club that there is another awesome channel call sprout. have you heard of sprout and if so is it an great channel besides nick jr?
what are your thoughts*
Re: do you watch tv shows all day with your lo?
::side-eye::
Odd. in more than one way.
This is a joke, right?
Please tell me this is a joke.
why are some of your words underlined?
and seriously? Seriously?
My thoughts are that televisions make bad baby-sitters.
Who has time to watch tv all day?
DS and I watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the morning because he likes the bright colors and sounds and it gives me time to use the bathroom and grab a cup of coffee.
Click on her screenname and check out some of her other posts. Side eye.
Why are you letting your kid watch crap like Nick Jr and Sprout? Don't you know that babies and toddlers should be watching Maury Povich all day long?
I don't know. We don't have cable and DD never watches TV.
Maybe there is something else she can do independently?
The bolding and underlining of random words in your post is throwing me off.
If this is a legitimate question....we DVR a few shows for DS to watch. he basically watches Dinosaur Train (PBS kids), SuperWhy (PBS kids) and an occassional Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Disney). He is allowed one show a day if he asks for it. If the weather is really bad and we can't leave all day he can watch 2. If he is sick he is allowed to watch as much as he wants.
I can't stand a lot of kids shows, like Dora, etc. They are so annoying to me that I won't let DS watch them. I figure what he doesn't know won't hurt him.
bwahahaha!!!

you are a raving lunatic
some days yep---if it is rainy or if we are having a jammie day. however if the sun is shining we are outside as much as possible. sometimes it is also too cold to go out-so we do some tv, some movies and some projects. it is all about balance and i think our heavier tv days are out weighed by the days like today when we are outside for 4-5 hours!!!
we like nickjr, toon (for tom and jerry), disney. not really pbs but we should do more of that. if she starts to play or do other things i switch to something i want to watch or just shut it off.
Sprout is the stuff that is on PBS. So Sesame Street, Dinosaur Train, etc.
Why the underlining?
Screw Povich. We're a Springer household.
((chanting)) Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!
And I hope that you are kidding. Although, I've seen your posts on Swap Spot and suspect that you are for real.
No, I don't use the television as a babysitter because that is disgusting. Read your kid a book, do a craft, take her outside. Afterall, you live in california....don't you have nice weather most of the time?!?
Yes I live in Cali too and weather is usually nice enough to go outside.
You ladies are funny, and I'm looking forward to joining you in a few weeks! I really can't stop giggling at the last part of your comment!
This. I live in Cali too and my DD watches maybe a total of an hour or two of tv a week total. DH and I never have the TV on if she is awake. Kids don't need that kind of garbage. They are creative enough to play freely if you let them, but they tend to loose that skill if the TV is often on.
