I called to talk to our peds office to find out what dosage to give Chris for allergy medicine. Chris had a clear runny nose and itchy eyes last year and the allergist said we could use Claritin. They were more concerned with Chris' ASD and genetic condition than his allergies.
Re: What does my son's ASD have to do with allergies?
There's a really good (but very thick) book, which discusses the connection between autism, allergies, adhd, and asthma. Its by Dr. Bock, who is pretty big in the autism bio-med world and is called:
Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies: The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A disorders.
Regardless of whether you use any bio-med interventions, there is a lot of info. in the book that helps to make sense of things. I'll be the first to admit, though, its huge and I've only had time to read it in bits and pieces, but its one of those books thats really nice to have as a reference and can easily be used like that. Hope that helps!
