I swear to all that is right and good in this world that I did not have to stick a qtip where the sun don't shine last time. But this time I did. And I hope there is a control to the test to see if I even did it right in the first place because I...well.....I just don't even know if I did it right ![]()
Anyone else have to test themselves?
Re: Who else here had to test themselves for GBS?
No! That is crazy! At home or at the office? I just had my test this week.
Same, my doc send you home with the test at your 36 week appt and you bring it back. I'll be getting mine on Sat.
Mother of dog, thankfully in the restroom there after the regular apt was over. lol Well, I guess it woudn'tve been too different. Same belly getting in the way of finding the right...uh, place to stick a long qtip up one's arse. Grrrrrrr.
Edited to clarify.....I was told to only go like an inch in but I'd love to know who the EFF can tell? I would've been much happier having someone else do it for these reasons. No, the test itself is absolutely no big deal. Clearly, I had it done before so I even KNEW it would be no biggie. But to do it yourself is just a mechanical error waiting to happen. I think had they said to just swipe a certain area, that is diff, but to insert about an inch? aiyiyiyiyiyi
Haha, right?! I'm with OBGYN Assoc.in Prov. The MWs. And like my edit stated, had the nurse instructed me to simply swab around the two areas I would not be here tonight posting about such a mundane experience.
And 'ello to you, too! I'm in Southern RI, you?
I'm relatively near Providence. I go to Women's Care, and I love it!
If someone lies about taking the test they are only screwing themselves and the health of their baby. I'm doing the test on my own but I'm at a birth center where my care and what I choose is completely up to me....they give me all the latest research, the pros and cons, and then let me make a very educated decision about my care. Doctors, however, probably do it themselves for liability.
I agree and I'll add that it must be pretty easy to tell if the test was taken or not. There would be a lack of cells/bacteria/whatever they look for entirely. What I was concerned about was if there was a way to know if what they are looking at contains enough of what they need to make a determination. You know, like a control of some sort....I'm thinking of a pg test and how that one line always comes up just to let you know that, at the very least, the test was done correctly, even if the result is still being calculated.
