Just wondering. I think I heard that planks are okay so that means pushups would be too, but I just want to make sure. If they are, is it better to do them on your toes or knees or does it not really matter?
There are many opinions out there on whether push-ups are safe or not. Some people claim that it puts too much stress on your abdomen and it's not good for baby. I was told to avoid the traditional pushup, but I could do them on an incline. So I did them up against a desk or counter. You still get great results with less stress on the abs.
My Dr said they're okay, but they get REALLY difficult once you get a belly. Actually, it's kind of funny- gravity and the bump really work against you.
I'm looking forward to starting them up again soon-- Then again, I'll have a little baby to carry around to tone my arms!
Push ups are fine as long as you are never straining or holding your breath while doing them. You are so early along, as long as you have been exercising regularly, than everything should still be fine. Always check with your OB!
