Why do I even try to clean my home???!!! (vent)

Seriously?  What's the point?  NOT EVEN 1 hour later, it's all a hot mess again.  Esp. the breakfast area and the family room.  It's pointless!!!

Get this....I've ordered new seat cushions for my over-priced couch and I am only putting them on the sofa when we're expecting company.  I'm not kidding!  I really, really mean it!  The old ones will remain there otherwise.  Between the food stains, milk stains, etc....I just can't stand it.  And I've flipped them so many times, they're now evenly stained.  For some reason, 'STOP eating and leaving bottles on the couch!' means nothing to my LO's (okay it's mainly the nearly 40 year old).

I'm so close to just throwing away all toys that I pick up so many times a day.  Any tips ladies?  Really....how do you handle the constant mess?  Better yet, how can I avoid having the mess altogether?  And where can I buy those old-fashioned plastic couch covers?  The kind that makes your butt and back sweaty when you sit on it.  I'm so tempted to get some!  TIA.

  • Man, I can relate to cleaning the kitchen.

I did a serious deep cleaning of the kitchen and attached utility room just a few days ago.  Promptly after, DD had a crumbly sticky snack, the cat vomited, and DH tracked a lot of nature in after mowing.  I recleaned and cooked dinner, then chuckled in amazement when I surveyed the kitchen after we ate.  It looked 10 xs worse than it looked before I started.

And that is why I have lowered my standards =)

Ahahahaha, God I might just love you, Susan!  ;)

Seriously, I think we all struggle on some level with this issue as our lil rugrats can make messes faster than we can clean them up!  Picking up all clutter, in every room, as we go about our day and doing a little cleaning/wipe down/dusting every single day really helps my house APPEAR clean.

  • It is so frustrating. My MIL is staying at our house Thursday - Monday with our LO's while DH and I are going to Florida. She is super "judgy" and I want to have the house sparkling, I am barely starting until Thurdsday DAY for this very reason.
